Man Seriously Injured After a Solo Motorcycle Accident in San Marcos

A 19-year-old man sustained serious injuries after a solo motorcycle accident in San Marcos Sunday night.

The collision occurred around 11:51 p.m. on Borden Road, near the intersection of Fulton Road.

The motorcyclist lost control of his bike for an unknown reason and struck several objects in a solo crash.

Officials found the biker lying on the sidewalk, unresponsive. He was transported to Palomar Hospital to be treated.

Investigators do not believe alcohol was involved in the accident.

No other information has been released.

In comparison to a regular passenger vehicle, motorcyclists lack the safety features that can prevent serious injuries. Motorcycle fatalities are 26 times higher than the number for cars. Even without another vehicle involved in the accident, motorcyclists can still sustain serious injuries in a solo crash.

While using proper safety features like antilocking brakes can reduce the risk of serious collisions, accidents are never predictable.
