garden grove teen drives into house

February 28, 2011- According to Garden Grove Police Department Lt. Jeff Nightengale, an 18-year-old motorist drove into the living room of a home late Sunday night in the 1600 block of Garden Grove Boulevard.

The unidentified teen drove the green Dodge Durango into two load bearing walls of the house. Due to extensive damage the house was deemed uninhabitable and red-tagged. Lt. Nightengale said the driver was transported to a local hospital for treatment of injuries. No one in the house was injured.

The driver was not arrested for suspicion of driving under the influence, but the case was forwarded to the Department of Motor Vehicles for administrative review. This decision was based on the driver’s blood alcohol level at the time of the crash. A review is necessary when the driver is under the age of 21 and not legally drunk, but has consumed alcohol. According to Lt. Nightengale, there will be consequences, but most likely no criminal charges.
