A woman was killed in a fatal hit-and-run accident late Sunday evening in Oceanside.
According to the police report, the victim was discovered unconscious in the westbound lanes of Mission Avenue around 8 p.m.
Witnesses recalled the woman walking southbound across the street when a silver 1998 Honda Civic, going 80 mph, struck her.
The driver, described as a bearded male wearing a baseball hat, fled immediately after the collision.
The pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene.
